Don’t let others label you, limit you, or lower you. Surround yourself with people who support you, your dreams and your definition of success. Let go of the naysayers and dream killers. That’s what successful leaders do.
If I had listened to the labels that others placed on me, I wouldn’t have a college degree, a law degree, and definitely would not have had the courage to start my own business and be where I am today. Instead of listening to my high school guidance counselor all those years ago – who said I wasn’t “college material” (even though I was a straight-A student), I followed my own heart, my own dreams and my own definition of success. Oh yeah, and I also sent that counselor an invitation to my law school graduation. She didn’t come but now I can use her as an example.
The bottom line: We all have those people in life who won’t believe in us or will label us – it’s up to YOU on whether you choose to create your own life – one that you were meant to live and create – not one created by other people’s expectations of you. Be the leader that you were meant to be. Do that thing you have always wanted to do. Take risks. And just do it.
Success tip: Ignore the critics, shoot for the stars, define your own success, surround yourself with people who will support you and your dreams, take those risks and make things happen for yourself. No one will do that for you. You only get one shot – make it a good one. Doing so will allow you to build the momentum you need in your life to be a smashing success.
